Calories are still very important when
trying to lose weight. When trying to lose weight, you need to
consume the right amount of calories, no more or less than what
your body needs. The American Dietetic Association recommends a
calorie level of no less than 10x your desired weight. Women
should get at least 1200 calories and men should get at least
1400 calories per day.

desired weight means that if you want to be 130lb then you
should take in 1300 calories a day.
Getting the right amount of calories help
with weight loss
Having the least amount of calories a day
does not always mean a good thing. Research shows that getting
the right amount of calories a day helps with weight loss. Too
few calories makes people unhealthy and will not aide weight
loss process.
Too few calories hinders weight loss
process
Too few calories is a bad thing! When on a
weight loss program, many people trying to lose weight mistook
consuming calories as a bad thing. They think the fewer
calories they take in the faster they lose weight. They often
try to consume less calories than the daily recommended amount.
While eating less calories can help with weight loss, taking in
too little calories is a bad thing.
By consuming too few calories, you are
making your body think you are starving. Therefore, your body
will try to conserve energy and calories and will not burn them
as it would normally. Soon, your body will start eating
away your muscles. This will in turn slow down your metabolism.
At this stage, you are not going to lose any weight. You are in
effect training your body to conserve whatever little food and
calories you have.
