amount of sleep. The newborn babies sleep more than older

2 year old children and how much sleep they
need
Sleep research has shown that a 2 year old
child needs about 11-12 hours of sleep time per day. Usually 2
year old children will need a nap in the afternoon
otherwise they may get cranky.
How much sleep should a 3 year old
get?
Sleep research shows that a 3 year old child
requires the same amount of sleep as a 2 year old child, i.e.
11-12 hours a day including nap time in the afternoon.
How much sleep should a 4 year old
get?
A 4 year old child is on the verge of
needing less sleep than 11-12 hours a day. Ideally, a 4 year
old child should still have 11-12 hours of sleep a day. But, if
the 4 year old child is active, he or she may need 9-11 hours
of sleep a day instead.
