Stop snoring
There are some non
surgical snoring remedies to help snorers stop
snoring. Of course, there are also snoring surgery procedures
for snoring cures. This section of Sleep Apnea and Snoring
information website explores the snoring remedies without
snoring surgery procedures.
Snoring remedy #1: lose weight
Since obesity is one of the common cause of
snoring for people with sleep apnea and obstructive sleep
apnea, losing weight is an obvious snoring remedy. In many
snoring and sleep apnea patients, losing weight cures snoring
altogether. For many people, losing 10 - 20% of body weight is
enough to stop snoring. You don't need to be thin or be a
'normal' weight to stop snoring. Losing some weight either
cures snoring and sleep apnea or help with reducing the
symptoms of sleep apnea and snoring.
Snoring remedy #2: avoid alcohol,
sedatives and some drugs
Alcohol and some medicines that cause
drowsiness or muscle relaxation can also worsen snoring and
sleep apnea. These drugs and alcohol loosens and relaxes the
muscles in the airway making them sag more. People who already
snore at night should avoid drinking alcohol and taking drowsy
medicines before bed time. This could cause a serious health
problem while they sleep. Sleeping pills and tranquilizers
should be avoided.
Snoring remedy #3: reduce nasal
congestion
Nasal congestion is an important cause of
snoring and sleep apnea. Nasal congestion can be from anything
such as allergies or rhinitis. If you have nasal congestion,
use nasal decongestant pills or a decongestant spray. This
usually help with snoring and lesson some mild case of
obstructive sleep apnea.
